Microbiology

What we are
currently collecting

  • blood and respiratory multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas

  • carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter

  • metallo-ß-lactamase positive organisms

How it works

At your site

In collaboration with your site’s Principal Investigator, isolates are identified and stored from patients enrolled in a PRECEDENT study

Save plates or culture tubes for semi-regular ambient shipments or store isolates in freezer for less frequent dry ice shipments

Coordinate with the central lab in Pittsburgh to obtain supplies and determine best shipping frequency

In the Pittsburgh lab

We perform extended susceptibility testing and seek genetic markers
of resistance as allowable by our funded protocols.
All isolates are linked to the de-identified clinical data recorded by
participating site Principal Investigators.

Your site will receive all results

broth microdilution testing of MICs minimum inhibitory concentration

Broth microdilution results

We will send extended panel results for all organisms shipped from your site.
Find something interesting? Let’s discuss publication options.

whole genome sequence data alignment

Whole bacterial genome data

We will send you genomic data for isolates collected at you site.
